WWLGA West Wales Junior Girls’ Championships – Swansea Bay GC

Competition open to WWLGA members and visitors.

 

Welsh Girls’ Under 18 Inter County Team Championship 2022

Hosted by Carmarthen & Pembrokeshire Ladies County Golf Association (C&PLCGA) at Ashburnham GC:
Golf Practice round – Sunday 21st August (Tee times from 2.15 – 3.30pm)

Championship Day – Monday 22nd August (Tee times from 9.30am – 11.30am

County girl team members must be under the age of 18 at 00:000n 31st August 2021.
The format is 18 holes singles Stableford, with a playing handicap of 95% of the course handicap. Each county will field a team of 5 players with the best four out of five scores to count. There will also be two individual prizes, Best Individual Stableford, for handicaps 20.5 to 36.4 and Best Individual Gross, for handicaps 20.4 and under.

EAST V WEST JUNIOR TEAM SHIELD – a friendly match at Morriston GC on Thursday 28th July 2022 at 11.00am.

What is meant by EAST AND WEST?………

EAST includes all Glamorgan golf clubs located East of the Swansea Valley.    

WEST means all West Wales golf clubs.   This includes C &P and all Glamorgan golf clubs located in and to the west of the Swansea Valley. These include Glyneath, Pontardawe, Neath, Swansea Bay, Morriston, Clyne, Fairwood, Gower, Langland Bay and Pennard.

All girls who have been attending county coaching, with or without handicaps are, welcome to play 4 or more holes.

 

South Wales Girls Golf Cymru Clinic 2022 – Parc GC  – Sunday 15th May – 12:00 – 17:00

Join girls from all over Wales for a fun and informative golfing day to learn new skills and make friends. Lunch will be included.

Age range 6 -16  An ability welcome.

This is a WalesGolf coaching initiative lead by Women and Girls’ Coordinator, Simon Lu. Organised as a South East partnership between Glamorgan (GLCGA) and Monmouthshire (MLCGA).

 

To follow our four winter coaching sessions at The Vale we have arranged a short game coaching session:-

A one hour, short game, coaching from Peter Evans – Head PGA Professional

Saturday March 26th at Royal Porthcawl GC. Approximate group size will be 7.

There will be three sessions times: 13:00 – 14:00     14:00 – 15:00;       15:00 – 16:00

Competitor information:

The format of each Junior Tour event shall be mixed individual Stableford in categories U8,U10, U12 and U14.

The winner in each category will be the player who scores the highest number of Stableford points (U14 category) or *modified Stableford points (U8,U10 and U12 categories).

*Modified Stableford a player will receive 10 points for completing a hole in 1 stroke. The points awarded will decrease sequentially with 1 point awarded for completing a hole in 10 shots more.

In recent years, we have seen a dramatic increase in the number of golf clubs organising their own Junior Open Day. It is extremely encouraging to see many of our junior girls, not only entering such local competitions, but are keen to travel further afield to our neighbours Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Monmouthshire counties to do so.

Taking advantage of regular opportunities to play golf, with like-minded young people, offers the girls’ a confidence building experience. Skill progression, following their efforts on driving ranges and practice areas can be continued and enjoyed. New friendships are often forged where the girls may look forward to meeting up for future rounds.

 

  • Good luck to all juniors who have entered the County Championship – Silver and Bronze 2019. This is being held at Pyle & Kenfig GC on Wednesday/Thursday/Friday April 24th – 26th.
