Glamorgan girls’ continued their coaching at  Royal Porthcawl GC

Sunday 27th March 2022

The weather for our winter coaching at The Vale was not kind to us. At just one of the four sessions, the girls were able to use the outdoor areas.
Not wanting them to miss out on this opportunity to improve their chipping and putting techniques, a short game coaching sessions arranged.
Peter Evans, Head PGA Professional at Royal Porthcawl GC expertly delivered one hour short game guidance to three groups of young golfers. Keeping the group sizes small ensured the girls received individual attention.
The gloriously, sunny day made perfect conditions for a successful afternoon which included bunker play.
We also had a special spectator who took time to drop in! We were all delighted to welcome Ladies European Tour Legend Trish Johnson.
She took a close interest in the activities, giving positive feedback about the girls’ skills and motivation.
Good work girls!

Go girls!

We have an extremely motivated group of young golfers in Glamorgan with a lot of potential in both the younger and older squads. They have shown a keen desire to improve their skills having turned out in force at each of our four winter coaching sessions.

Rhondda, Mountain Ash, Swansea Bay, Pyle & Kenfig, Morriston, Aberdare

Llantrisant & Pontyclun, Llanishen, Clyne, Bargoed, Pennard, Pontardawe

These golf clubs are all represented at the GLCGA Coaching Programme and will continue to challenge themselves at different golf courses in 2022.

Check out our events page for just some of the competitions on offer.

It is hoped that this promotion will provide a more positive transition from junior to senior competitive golf. Both of the above matches were played at Carmarthen GC on Sunday 4th July to improve awareness and relationships between up and coming golfers and the county’s top players.

To this aim 5 girls were selected to for the first team squad and represent Glamorgan 1 in this singles match play competition, namely:- Megan Rowe (Pontardawe), Robyn Elward (Rhondda), Lowri Davies (Mountain Ash),Morgan Mellin (Swansea Bay), Rebecca Del Sol-Gonzales(Pennard).

Friendly match result:     Glamorgan v Carmarthen & Pembrokeshire – Sunday 27th June 2021

The wind certainly made for challenging golf at Ashburnham GC for the first junior match of the season. The girls contested over 3 singles, 2 foursomes and 1 modified Stableford match. The result was a 2 1/2 points to 3 1/2 loss for Glamorgan, however convincing wins were evident as well as two close call singles matches which were played through to the 18th green. We saw committed performances from each of our girls.

Well done team:-

2020 Summer Competition Review and Results

During the difficult times of Lockdown when everyone’s golf was restricted our aims were…..

…..to  encourage Glamorgan girls of all abilities to get out and play more golf

…..to provide a competitive focus for all Glamorgan girls who golf

…..to encourage beginners to leave the driving range and play their course

…..to better understand the process of marking a card

A number of entries have been submitted, however not as many as we had  hoped. We do hope our girls have been able to enjoy some golf and perhaps next year, with encouragement, the number of entrants will increase.

On 2nd June Lili Callard from P & K and St Athan Golf Clubs’ came Runner up in the Mini Masters at Pontypridd Golf Club, 9 Hole Stableford, in very wet and tough conditions. She is very happy with her result considering she failed to score on 4 holes.
